HUMAN LIFE IS GREATEST VALUE – JDU STUDENT DIDN'T HESITATE

Outstanding professionalism combined with remarkable composure enabled Weronika Swodczyk, a student of Paramedic Science at the Dr W;adyslaw Bieganski Collegium Medicum of Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa, to help save a person's life.

The dramatic incident took place near the Jasna Góra Monastery in Czestochowa. Weronika did not hesitate for a single moment. Her exemplary response was recognised in a message of appreciation published on the social media profile of the Emergency Medical Service Station in Czestochowa.

Her actions are the best testament to the high quality of education provided at our University. They also demonstrate the effectiveness of preparing current and future graduates to respond confidently and professionally in life-threatening situations.

The following account was published by the Emergency Medical Service Station in Czestochowa:
"On 19 July 2026, a man taking part in a pilgrimage to Jasna Góra in Czestochowa suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. Before the emergency medical team arrived, bystanders immediately began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). In cases of sudden cardiac arrest, every second counts. Prompt chest compressions and the rapid summoning of emergency medical services significantly increase a patient's chances of survival and recovery. Any one of us may find ourselves in a situation where another person's life depends on our decision, courage and willingness to act.

According to the information available to us, two Paramedic Science students were among those providing first aid, including one student from Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa. Your knowledge, composure and readiness to act, together with the commitment shown by the other witnesses, played a crucial role in the success of the rescue operation. Bystanders are often the first and most important link in the so-called chain of survival.

Upon arrival, Emergency Medical Team S01 08 took over the medical rescue procedures and continued resuscitation. Thanks to the immediate response of those at the scene and the professional actions of the paramedics, the patient's vital functions were restored. The prompt initiation of CPR by witnesses was decisive - the patient survived because help was provided before the emergency medical team reached the scene.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who, on 19 July near Jasna Góra, refused to remain passive and took action to save a life. Thanks to your attitude, the patient received the greatest gift possible - the chance to continue living. You are the true heroes of that day.

We also extend our heartfelt congratulations to Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa for successfully preparing future paramedics to respond decisively in life-threatening situations. The attitude demonstrated by these students reflects not only a high standard of knowledge and practical skills, but also a deep sense of responsibility, empathy and commitment to helping others. It is the clearest evidence that high-quality education translates into real-life rescue of human lives.
