EUROPEAN PATENT GRANTED TO JDU

We are proud to announce another European patent awarded to our University!

The patent application concerning the “Method for biotesting the ecotoxicity of substances and mixtures in the condensed phase and its application in ecotoxicology” has been approved by the European Patent Office.

The inventors of this innovative technology are researchers from Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa: dr Marika Turek and dr Ewa Różycka-Sokołowska, as well as scientists from the Centre of Molecular and Macromolecular Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Łódź: prof. Piotr Bałczewski, dr Marek Koprowski, and dr Krzysztof Owsiniak.

The developed method enables reliable measurement of the ecotoxicity of poorly soluble and hydrophobic substances and their mixtures, including pharmaceuticals. Previously used methods for measuring environmental toxicity underestimated its actual level, as they only took into account the water-soluble fraction. The latest research makes it possible to assess the real total toxicity, which is essential for the implementation of innovative and, above all, safe technologies.

Congratulations to all those involved!
