PROF. KRZYSZTOF CZAJKOWSKI HAS PASSED AWAY
On May 20, 2026, prof. Krzysztof Czajkowski passed away at the age of 63. He had been associated with the University since October 1, 1990, when it was still known as the Higher Pedagogical School in Czestochowa. He worked at the Institute of Polish Philology within the Faculty of Philology and History, and later, following the Faculty’s renaming in 2019, within the Faculty of Humanities.
Prof. Czajkowski held a variety of positions, including serving as Head of the Institute of Polish Philology. For many years, he coordinated the Summer School of Polish Language and Culture, which operated first at the Higher Pedagogical School and later at Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa.
Prof. Czajkowski was also actively involved in numerous international initiatives. Among his many achievements, it is worth noting that in 2006 he began working in the field of science, culture, and Polish diaspora affairs at the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Brest. Subsequently, from 2009 to 2011, he served as Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Irkutsk.
Prof. Krzysztof Czajkowski will be remembered as a person deeply committed to the development of the University, a kind colleague, and an outstanding mentor to many generations of young scholars of Polish studies.
