“LECTURES AT DLUGOSZ” WITH GUEST LECTURE BY PROF. TADEUSZ SŁAWEK

Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa invites to a lecture as part of the “Lectures at Dlugosz” series. The special guest of the event will be the renowned literary scholar, translator, writer, and publicist prof. Tadeusz Sławek.

The lecture entitled “Scepticism and utopia. Does the humanistic narrative about the world still matter?” will take place on 23 March 2026 at the Museum of Coins and Medals of St. John Paul II, Jagiellońska 67/71 in Czestochowa.
The event will begin at 3 pm.

The meeting is organised as part of the 3rd edition of the Scientific Seminar “Science – Education – Pop – Culture.” The seminar, entitled “What if we no longer need a teacher…?”, focuses on science, the role of the teacher and learning in the context of contemporary cultural paradigms and posthumanist reality.

The seminar is organised by the Institute of Literary Studies and the Department of Pedagogy, with the participation of the Department of Philosophy. It is held under the honorary patronage of Prof. Bogusław Przywora, Acting Rector of Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa and Vice-Rector for Research, and forms part of the “Lectures at Dlugosz” series.

Biography
Prof. dr. hab. Tadeusz Sławek is an outstanding scholar, literary interpreter, translator, writer, and publicist who has been associated with the University of Silesia in Katowice since 1971. He served as the university’s rector from 1996 to 2002. A Fulbright scholar, he has been a visiting professor in Norwich, Naples, and Stanford, and has also lectured at the University of San Diego.

Since 1978, Professor Sławek has collaborated with double bassist and composer Bogdan Mizerski. Their joint recordings of poetry recitations accompanied by double bass music - described as “an essay for voice and double bass” - have been released for many years by the Off Records label. He is also a laureate of the Poznan Literary Award.
