HISTORIC FIRST GOLD FOR JDU ACADEMIC CHOIR

Last Saturday (January 31, 2026), the Academic Choir of our University took part in the competition of the 13th International Festival of Christmas Carols and Pastorals in Rzeszow. This is a special place for the choir, as the festival was the first competition in which the ensemble participated in 2023, receiving a silver diploma. After three years, the choir returned from Rzeszow with its first gold award in the history of the ensemble, scoring 94 points in the mixed choir category.

The 62-member ensemble, composed of students, staff, and supporters of Jan Dlugosz University, prepared a diverse repertoire during the winter semester under the direction of dr Marek Kudra. The program included Polish Christmas carols, pastorals, and other holiday-themed compositions. A particularly appreciated piece, recognised by the jury, was Bóg się rodzi (God Is Born), arranged by Klaudiusz Jania from the Department of Music at Jan Dlugosz University. The choir also performed: M. Leontovych – Shchedryk, P. Matz – Kolęda Hultajska, and arr. M. Wawruk – Północ już była (Midnight Had Already Passed).
