THIRD PRIZE – RECTOR OF MARIA CURIE-SKŁODOWSKA UNIVERSITY IN LUBLIN AWARD FOR PAULINA BOBAK, SECOND-YEAR DOCTORAL STUDENT AT JDU DOCTORAL SCHOOL

On 13 December 2025, the opening of the 29th International Eastern Art Salon 2025 took place at the Centre for the Meeting of Cultures (CSK) in Lublin.

The painting “Between the Lines” (Między wierszami, 100 × 150 cm, oil on canvas, embroidery, 2025) by Paulina Bobak, a doctoral student of the Doctoral School of Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa, which was selected for the exhibition, was awarded the Third Prize - the Rector of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin Award.

This year’s edition of the competition attracted 224 artists from Poland, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Japan, Lithuania, Germany, Slovakia, Hungary, and Ukraine, who submitted a total of 652 works. The jury qualified 98 works by 65 artists for the next stage of the competition and the post-competition exhibition.

During the jury session held at the Gallery of the Centre for the Meeting of Cultures in Lublin, prof. Krzysztof Gliszczyński (Chair of the Jury), prof. Łukasz Huculak, prof. Jacek Kucaba, dr habil. Wojciech Mendzelewski, prof. UMCS, Jolanta Męderowicz, and prof. Krzysztof Szymanowicz, 15 artists were nominated for awards, after which the statutory prizes and distinctions were granted.

The tradition of the Lublin Art Salons originates from the activities of the Lublin branch of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers (ZPAP), founded in 1936. Its continuation is the Eastern Art Salon, initiated in 1993. The 29th International Eastern Art Salon takes the form of an open, post-competition exhibition presenting contemporary art from Eastern Europe, as well as a wide range of current artistic trends, attitudes, and achievements.
