“Oto o północy” sets the festive mood

For the first time in the history of Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa, the Christmas season is accompanied by a music video clip. The performers in the clip are the Academic Choir of JDU, conducted by dr Marek Kudra, and the Vocal–Instrumental Ensemble of the Department of Music at JDU, prepared by dr Joanna Świniarska-Szebeszczyk and mgr Wojciech Królikowski.

The pastoral carol entitled “Oto o północy” is intended to introduce the academic community as well as our friends and partners to the Christmas atmosphere - explains Magdalena Okwiet, Head of the JDU Communication and Marketing Department. We hope that the piece will appeal to viewers and will be eagerly played during this year’s holidays. We also hope that the recording will become a pleasant memory for those who, years from now, return to it while recalling the time spent at our University.

The piece is undoubtedly one of the hallmarks of our Choir, which has been building its artistic achievements and is gradually becoming recognisable not only in the region, but also far beyond its borders, even across Europe.

In the later part of the material, the Acting Rector, prof. Bogusław Przywora, addresses viewers with Christmas wishes. This is also one of the new elements. Until now, greetings have been sent in the form of traditional postcards and materials distributed via email.

The piece was recorded in the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Science & Technology on 12 December 2025, just before the Christmas and New Year concert. Footage for the music video was also shot in the University building at 2/4 Zbierskiego St. and during the Christmas market held at Bieganski Square in Czestochowa. The students of the University appeared as actors, combining fun with the hard work involved in the photo and video shoot. The shots, their concept, production, and final editing were handled by Olaf Trzewiczek, a student of the Faculty of Art at JDU.

The recording is not long - it lasts just 3 minutes and 33 seconds. Inviting everyone to watch, we are counting on favourable reviews, and perhaps even a bit of buzz at the University, in Czestochowa, or maybe even throughout the entire region…
