JDU REPRESENTATIVE AT “SILESIA ON THE FRONTLINE OF CHANGE: THE REGION’S POTENTIAL IN THE DEFENCE SECTOR”

On 17 November 2025, a meeting devoted to the presentation of the report “Silesia on the Frontline of Change: The Region’s Potential in the Defence Sector” was held at the Conference and Business Centre of the Silesian Stadium in Katowice. At the invitation of the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship, Wojciech Saługa, Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa was represented by prof. Edmund Golis, Head of the Centre for Knowledge and Innovation Transfer in Science and Art.

The presented report indicates that the accumulated scientific and research potential, along with a well-developed innovation support ecosystem, provides a solid foundation for the transformation of the Silesian region toward modern technologies, including the defence sector. It was emphasised that for units conducting research and development activities, it will be crucial to orient project applications toward supporting national security and the development of dual-use technologies.

With regard to the University, the report’s recommendations highlight the need to create dedicated programmes for universities and technology parks in cooperation with enterprises, which will accelerate innovation development and the commercialisation of scientific research results in the field of defence.
