OUR PHD STUDENT ADVANCES TO THREE MINUTE THESIS® 2025 FINAL!
We are delighted to announce that Sandra Binek, MSc, a second-year PhD student in physical sciences at the JDU Doctoral School, has been selected as one of the 10 finalists in the Three Minute Thesis® 2025 competition!
More than 30 doctoral students from universities across the region took part in the preliminary rounds, and the jury highly appreciated Sandra Binek’s presentation.
Presentation title: “Rebellious Geniuses - Perovskites as a Source of Clean Energy”
Sandra Binek compares perovskites to brilliant yet unpredictable teenagers - they have enormous potential in photovoltaics but still require taming. In her research, she explores stable and safe alternatives to traditional lead-based perovskites, using quantum-chemical calculations to understand their atomic structure and design new materials.
The competition final will take place on 28 November at 6:00 pm at the Library of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice. The event is open to the public, and a livestream will be available on the Silesian University of Technology’s YouTube channel.
We warmly congratulate Sandra Binek and keep our fingers crossed for the final performance!
