DISTINCTIONS ON WORLD TOURISM DAY

The Mayor of Czestochowa, Krzysztof Matyjaszczyk, presented distinctions to individuals promoting and contributing to the development of tourism in the city and the region. Among those honoured were representatives of Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa: prof. Dr. Henryk Ćwięk (a participant in expeditions to the Amazon, Uganda, and Papua New Guinea, a conqueror of the highest peaks on several continents), prof. Eligiusz Małolepszy (an Editor-in-Chief of the journal Sport and Tourism. Central European Journal of Scientific Research, an author and co-author of publications in the field of tourism and recreation, an organiser of congresses devoted to physical culture and tourism), and dr Marek Makowski (a promoter of hiking and cycling tourism, an author of publications, an organiser of photographic and sightseeing exhibitions).

An award was also granted to Miłosława Duda-Dziewierz, M.A., Treasurer of the Częstochowa Branch of the PTTK Jan Dlugosz Tourist Guides Association (currently acting as Bursar of Jan Dlugosz University). A distinction was also given to Joanna Kretkowska, a student of the Faculty of Humanities at Jan Dlugosz University, who is affiliated with the Jasna Góra Information Centre.

After the official ceremony, there was a meeting with prof. Mariusz Rzętała (Faculty of Social Sciences at Jan Dlugosz University, geographer, traveller), who delivered a lecture entitled “Travelling with the Sun on the Northern Side of the Sky – Curiosities of South America, Africa, Australia, and Oceania.”
