WITH DEEP SORROW, WE BID FAREWELL TO THE LATE DR JAKUB ADAMCZYK – VICE-DEAN FOR GENERAL AFFAIRS AT DR W. BIEGANSKI COLLEGIUM MEDICUM

It is with great sadness that we inform of the passing of dr Jakub Adamczyk – a specialist in biophysics and medical biology, a valued lecturer, researcher, and colleague of our University.

Dr Jakub Adamczyk had been affiliated with Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa since 2019. From September 1, 2024, he held the position of Vice-Dean for General Affairs at the Dr W. Bieganski Collegium Medicum. He was actively involved in many organisational areas - as a member of the expert committee at the Medical Research Agency, a participant in the establishment of the medical programme, and a member of the Programme Team for Quality Assurance in Medical Education. He was also the founder and supervisor of the Student Scientific Club, supporting students’ scientific interests and skills in ultrasound diagnostics. He was passionate about mountain climbing, off-road expeditions, and photography. He was not only a respected specialist but also a dedicated academic teacher who shared his knowledge and experience with great enthusiasm.

Dr Jakub Adamczyk was a graduate of the University of Silesia, where he studied experimental physics and medical physics. In 2006, at the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice, he obtained his PhD in Medical Sciences in the field of medical biology. He also completed postgraduate studies in molecular biology at the Jagiellonian University. Between 2007 and 2017, he was professionally associated with the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice, where he gained extensive experience as an assistant professor at the Department of Biophysics and the Department of Food and Nutrition. His academic achievements include numerous scientific publications that had a significant impact on the development of science.

He will be remembered by us as a man of great knowledge, an authority in his field, and at the same time a person of exceptional kindness, humility, and openness towards others. His passing is a tremendous loss both for our academic community and the scientific world.
The farewell and funeral ceremonies will take place in the presence of his closest family.

We extend our heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy to his family and loved ones in this time of grief.
