JDU AT XXII AIH CONGRESS IN SANTIAGO DE CHILE
From July 21 to 26, 2025, dr Bartosz Stuła, a faculty member of the Institute of History, participated in the XXII Congreso de la Asociación Internacional de Hispanistas (AIH), held in Santiago de Chile.
During the congress, dr Stuła - one of only five Polish participants - delivered a lecture entitled La presencia de la cultura chicana en el cómic y sus analogías históricas. Chicana culture refers to the Mexican-American community in the United States, whose identity is shaped by a dialogue between Mexican heritage and the experience of living in the United States. In his presentation, the historian analysed the presence of Chicana cultural motifs in comics and explored their historical analogies.
Additionally, at the invitation of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Santiago, dr Stuła gave another lecture entitled El milenio de la coronación de Boleslao el Bravo en la cultura popular polaca, dedicated to the presence of the motif of the coronation of Boleslaw Chrobry in Polish popular culture.
Participation in the congress was not only an opportunity to present research findings, but also to promote Polish humanities within the international academic community and to highlight the work of our research centre. In the case of the embassy lecture, it also served to showcase Polish heritage. The meetings and contacts established during these events will foster cooperation with other Spanish-speaking institutions around the world, opening new opportunities for academic exchange and collaborative research projects.
