PHILOLOGIST READS THE WORLD

Gallery of the University Library, Jan Długosz University in Częstochowa
Częstochowa, Aleja Armii Krajowej 36A
1–31 August 2025 | Free Admission

Reading the world is more than just reading books. It is not only the ability to discern meanings hidden in everyday life, in language, in culture, but also the sensitivity to nuance, to what remains unspoken. This is the attitude of the authors of the works presented in the exhibition — the students and members of the “Filomaci” Literary Studies Student Society and their academic supervisor.

The exhibition reflects a wide range of interests – from literature and music, through reflections inspired by the field of animal studies, to topics related to translation, cultural theory, and the humanities. Many of the works were inspired not only by academic discussions and literature, but also by personal experiences and encounters with various forms of culture. The students drew on motifs that moved or intrigued them and transformed them into reflective – and sometimes ironic – commentaries on contemporary reality. In this way, the exhibition becomes not only a showcase of creativity, but also a map of the intellectual and emotional paths followed by young humanists.

The exhibition features a variety of creative forms developed by the “Filomaci” Literary Studies Student Society – from posters illustrating academic and cultural interests, through translation attempts and poetic miniatures, to original graphics, humorous infographics, references to scholarly research, and presentations of inspiring bibliographic sources. Each work represents a personal interpretation of reality – an attempt to capture what is both fleeting and meaningful.

We invite you to immerse yourself in the landscape of thought and imagination – full of intellectual energy, emotional depth, and philological attentiveness. May the exhibition serve as an inspiration for your own explorations and a boost to read the world critically and sensitively.
