JDU Open Day – knowledge without borders, thinking without limits

Academically and promotionally - the University has opened its doors to candidates

"Knowledge without borders, thinking without limits – Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa, now the European University" is not only the slogan of the spectacle inaugurating the University's Open Day, but also the motto of openness and opportunities brought by the mission and activities of the University.

The performance prepared for the inauguration of the Open Day (March 15, 2024) directed by prof. Adam Regiewicz was opened with music that brought back the memories of the changes of the 1980s that took place in Poland.  The participants were welcomed by the Rector of the University, prof. Anna Wypych-Gawrońska, and the President of the Student Government, Wiktor Mucha. The presented spectacle made the audience reflect on the learning process, which was inspired by a child's curiosity about the world. Subsequent modules focused on the laws of physics, brain function, molecular gastronomy, literary interpretation, the meaning of music, forensic science, and the internationalisation of the University.  The performance showed how science can transcend the boundaries of its traditional fields, inspiring open and comprehensive reflection on the world and human cognition.

After the inauguration, the participants went to the campus and other buildings of the University, where numerous attractions of a scientific nature, workshops, lectures and competitions were awaiting them. It is impossible to list and describe all the activities prepared by academics, students and doctoral students representing 6 Faculties of the University and the Doctoral School. Their multiplicity is evidenced by the numbers – about 300 different forms linked together in a common goal, which is interest and invitation to study at the University.

The rich offer of the Open Day aroused great interest and enthusiasm among the guests who came from all over the region: Koniecpol, Radomsko, Myszków, Lubliniec, Kłobuck, Zawiercie, Pajęczno, Blachownia and many other towns. Many of our guests came from more distant cities and towns. Let's just mention: Będzin, Tarnowskie Góry, Katowice, Kraków, Bełchatów, Sosnowiec, Chorzów, Gliwice. The organisers estimate that this Open Day attracted up to 1500 students and teachers, as well as many graduates and friends of the University! The event also had an informative dimension – the candidates were presented with an educational offer prepared for the upcoming recruitment for studies in the academic year 2024/2025. Thanks to these activities, young people and teachers could learn about the planned novelties: Medical Engineering (second-cycle studies, Faculty of Science and Technology) and Polish studies (first-cycle studies, Faculty of Humanities). Both programmes will be launched after obtaining the relevant approvals to open the recruitment of candidates. There was also a lot of media, which invited everyone to participate in the event, as well as reported on its course on an ongoing basis, also posting information after its completion.

The organisation and coordination of the event was taken care of by the Marketing & Communications Department mgr Magdalena Okwiet, mgr Klaudia Żurawska, dr Marek Makowski, lic. Konrad Balas. A large and significant role in the course of the Open Day was played by students led by Wiktor Mucha (Chairman of the University Council of the JDU Student Government).

Everyone involved in this year's Open Day deserves a "big thank you"!
