DOCTORAL STUDENT’S SUCCESS
We are delighted to announce that Sandra Binek, MSc - a second-year PhD student in physical sciences at JDU Doctoral School - has received the prestigious Engineering Award in the finals of the Three Minute Thesis® 2025 competition.
This outstanding achievement highlights both the high quality of her research and her excellent ability to present complex scientific issues in an accessible and inspiring way to a broad audience.
This year’s edition of the competition brought together over 30 doctoral students from universities across the region, with only 10 best presentations qualifying for the final. Being selected among this group is already a significant accomplishment, and winning the award confirms Sandra Binek’s exceptional scientific potential and commitment.
Presentation title: “Rebellious Geniuses – Perovskites as a Source of Clean Energy”
Alongside her participation in the competition, Sandra Binek is pursuing a doctoral research project focused on modern materials for photovoltaic applications. Her doctoral dissertation, entitled “Perovskite Semiconductor Materials for Photovoltaic Applications,” concentrates on seeking innovative solutions for new energy sources. The research is conducted at the JDU Institute of Physics under the supervision of prof. Małgorzata Makowska-Janusik, whose support and scientific expertise constitute an important foundation of the project.
This distinction is not only a personal success but also an excellent promotion of research conducted at our University.
We sincerely congratulate the Student on the award and wish her further ambitious challenges, scientific discoveries, and continued success on both national and international stages.
