BOOK PUBLISHED AS PART OF "LIBRARY OF TRAILS OF HOPE" SERIES 

Prof. Janusz Zuziak (an employee of the Faculty of Social Sciences of JDU) is the author of a new book entitled "The Polish Army in France 1939-1940".

In the presented book, the reader will learn about the extensive issue of the reconstruction of the supreme civilian and military authorities and the ranks of the Polish Army in France in the autumn of 1939. They will learn about the confidential efforts of France supporting the takeover of power by General Władysław Sikorski, the legal basis for the reconstruction of the authorities and the army in the territory of the ally, organisational and mobilisation possibilities, the process of organisation and training of the emerging Polish Army units, as well as about problems with their equipment and armament, and finally about combat operations in defense of France in the spring of 1940. Important threads include the participation of the Independent Highland Rifle Brigade in the Battle of Narvik, combat operations of the 1. Grenadier Division, 2. Infantry Rifle Division, 10. Armoured Cavalry Brigade, anti-tank units, the Navy and the Polish Air Force, as well as the course of the evacuation to the British Isles after the defeat with the German army.
